Talia immediately jumped up with joy.

Damian said, "I’ll protect her, don’t worry."

It’s because you’re here that I’m worried, Bella said silently in her heart, but didn’t show it on her face.

She understood that, with Damian’s intelligence, if she acted like she really didn’t want Talia to be around him, he might think it’s odd and possibly start guessing the truth.

Fortunately, Talia is still young, looking entirely like her without a trace of Damian’s features, otherwise she wouldn’t dare let Talia have contact with Damian.

Her emotions turned and turned inside, but Bella smiled slightly on the surface and said, "Talia can be quite mischievous, so I apologize for the trouble, Mr. Sinclair."

Seeing her polite yet distant smile, Damian’s brow furrowed again.

It seemed ever since he saw her, he couldn’t stop frowning; there was always so much frustration in his heart.

Though Talia was clever and quirky, she was still too young to understand the hidden emotional changes between the two adults, only raising her head with some confusion to look at Damian, "Uncle?"

"Let’s go." Damian withdrew his gaze from Bella, reaching out to hold the little hand offered by the girl, leading her towards the creek.

Bella listened to the footsteps walking away, finally breathed a sigh of relief.

Sharon came over and said softly, "You haven’t let go of him either, why not give him a chance?"

Bella looked up at her and smiled lightly, "Godmother, I gave him the last chance five years ago. That day, I waited for him from the afternoon until five o’clock the next morning; all hope disappeared then. I’ve been gradually getting used to the days without him now and don’t want to go back to the past."

"I don’t think he’s someone who would let go easily," Sharon said worriedly. Given Damian’s strong background, if Bella completely offends him over emotional matters or even becomes enemies, it would really be of no advantage to her and might affect her career after returning to the country.

"Even the hottest flame gets extinguished after being doused with cold water a few times," Bella said. "Besides, he already has a new girlfriend; his interest in me is probably due to lingering regret or thinking that I should submit to him."

"Oh, you two," Sharon sighed.

"Let’s not talk about this, I should be congratulating you, Godmother," Bella laughed. "You’ve already agreed to the proposal, when are you and Director Ford planning to have the wedding?"

"Talking about you, how did it become about me again?" Sharon blushed and quickly changed the subject. "Sit here, I’ll go help." Without waiting for Bella to respond, she quickly walked away.

Bella laughed slightly, withdrawing her gaze and lowering her eyes.

Finally beginning to heal the wounds, she didn’t want them torn open again. Because only she knew that beneath that healing scar still lies those deeply painful memories.

Damian brought Talia to the creek.

The girl was wearing a small denim jumper dress today, with a matching sun hat like Bella’s. As soon as she reached the creek, she took off the hat and happily removed her shoes.

While taking off her shoes, she was also looking into the creek.

"Wow, there are little fish!" Seeing the swimming fish made her so excited she was eager to run over without finishing taking off her shoes.

"I’ll help you take off your shoes." Damian squatted down, patiently helping the little girl with her shoes, suddenly asked, "Talia, between me and your dad, who’s better looking?"
