Bella Acker sighed.

The private room had no one else inside, so she didn’t have to deliberately put on an act.

She put down her wine glass, supported her forehead, rubbed her brow, and laughed self-deprecatingly.

"Click."

The private room door opened again, and Bea walked in, "Bella, where’s my brother?"

"He’s already left." Bella Acker looked up and said, "Bella, how come you’re just right here?"

"It’s not ’just right’; I knew Archer Quinn booked a private room here, so I came on purpose." Bea walked over and sat beside her, saying, "But I didn’t expect he booked the room to welcome you. When did you come back, and why didn’t you call me?"

"I just got back today, didn’t have time to call you yet." Bella Acker smiled, "What’s up with you and Senior Quinn?"

"Just like you saw." Bea shrugged, "I’m pursuing him, and he hasn’t agreed to be my boyfriend yet."

"A bit unexpected." Bella Acker said, "But Senior Quinn is a good person. If you can win him over, it should be pretty good."

"That’s right; look at whose taste it is." Bea said, "Where have you been these five years? Why is there no news at all?"

"I went abroad to study at a film academy, just graduated recently." Bella Acker said, "It’s not like I deliberately didn’t contact you; it’s just I’ve been so busy, hardly had any spare time. When I finally got a bit of leisure, it was late night in the country, and it didn’t feel right to call."

"You could have at least texted me your overseas phone number." Bea said, "So many things happened over these years, my brother..."

"Bella, I don’t want to bring up Mr. Sinclair’s matters." Bella Acker interrupted her, with a pleading look.

"Forget it, I don’t want to meddle in your matters with him anyway." Bea waved her hand, looking a bit impatient, said, "When are you free, let’s go out just the two of us and catch up."

"Probably not soon." Bella Acker thought about her upcoming schedule and said, "Tomorrow I’ve already planned to go out with my godmother, the day after I’m meeting with the new drama’s director, and I’ve got plans lined up for some time after that. I’ve just returned to the country, and there are so many things to be done."

Bea frowned, "Bella, are you avoiding me because of my brother?"

Bella Acker’s hand, resting on her knee, stiffened a bit, and a small smile crept up her mouth, "No, really, I’m busy."

"Alright. Anyway, I’m pretty busy chasing Archer Quinn too, and there’s going to be an art exhibition the day after tomorrow, will you come?" Bea said, reaching out only to realize her purse was still in the adjoining room, "I’ll send the exhibition ticket to your studio tomorrow, you must come. There’s a portrait I painted of you; you won’t believe how beautiful you look in it."

With such an invitation, Bella Acker couldn’t refuse without seeming overly evasive.

Bella Acker nodded and asked, "Alright, what time the day after tomorrow?"

"Ten in the morning." Bea said, "I’m heading off now; I’ll have someone send the ticket to you tomorrow."

"Okay, see you."

Bea waved her hand, opened the private room door, and walked out.

Bella Acker breathed a sigh of relief; she had indeed deliberately avoided contacting Bella because of Damian Sinclair.

She needed to forget him, instinctively not wanting to interact with people and things related to him.

But she and Bella are ultimately friends. Not seeing her while abroad was fine; now back, some meet-ups were inevitable.

It’s just Damian...
