Chapter 628 - 627: Reunion (23)
Sandra Woods felt her ears burning, pinched Bella Acker on the arm, and warned, "Look at you, as if you know everything."
Bella Acker laughed, "You guys don’t have to see me off, I’ll take a cab back myself."
"I’ll take you home," Archer Quinn stepped out.
"Senior Quinn, you’ve been drinking, how can you take me home? You didn’t bring an assistant, did you?" Bella Acker said, "Besides, walking with you three feels like doing underground work. We have to avoid reporters and fans. I’d rather take a cab back by myself and be carefree."
"Oh, so you disdain us now, huh?" Sandra Woods gave her a sidelong glance and said, "You might be like this in the future, but I’ll let you be carefree for a few days now."
"That’s something for the future," Bella Acker smiled, "Are you so sure I’ll become famous?"
"Of course! Look at whose sister you are," Sandra Woods also laughed, "Okay, go ahead and take a cab home. Let us know in the group chat when you get home."
Archer Quinn asked, "Really don’t want me to take you?"
"No," Bella Acker nodded, "I feel like walking and seeing things on my own. You all have work tomorrow, just go home. See you."
She waved her hand to say goodbye to the three of them and slowly walked out of The Seraphina Garden with her backpack on alone.
The summer night was filled with people taking walks to cool off. Wearing a mask, she walked along the street without attracting much attention.
After five years of being away, this city where she grew up as a child had started to feel unfamiliar.
"Miss, could you help us take a picture?" A young girl with a digital camera politely asked.
Bella Acker was taken aback for a moment and then nodded, "Sure."
"Thank you," the girl handed her the camera, then cheerfully ran back to link arms with a tall boy, shouting, "Make sure to get the heart in the background, please."
Bella Acker gestured an OK sign and lifted the camera to frame the shot.
In the camera, the two young faces looked no older than fifteen or sixteen. The boy looked a bit cool, while the girl was bold and lively. They looked quite well-matched.
"I’m going to take the shot now," Bella Acker reminded them, and when their expressions looked just right, she pressed the shutter immediately.
But as she did so, she was momentarily stunned, then smiled.
In the photo, at the instant the shot was captured, the cool-looking boy bent down and kissed the girl’s corner of the mouth. His demeanor instantly softened, and the girl, caught by surprise, was frozen in that moment in the photo.
Ah, youthful love.
The girl, face blushing, came up and took the camera, "Thank you so much, miss."
"No problem," Bella Acker smiled and said, "He really likes you."
"Yeah, I really like him too." The girl’s face turned even redder, but her eyes were filled with a firm certainty in having found the one, and Bella Acker saw a reflection of her past self in her.
"I wish you happiness."
"Thank you, big sister." The girl thanked her again, then ran back to the boy with the camera, and the two of them huddled together to look at the photo.
Bella Acker watched them, let out a soft smile, and lowered her gaze.
It seemed fine before coming back, but once back, all the old memories came flooding back.
Bella Acker was somewhat lost in thought when her shoulder bag suddenly got yanked hard.
"Bang!" The bag strap snapped, and the thief grabbed her bag and started running off quickly.
Bella Acker’s eyes widened, ready to chase after the thief, but a tall figure had already run past her.
