Chapter 663 - 662: Rule Number One for Winning a Wife (6)
Aiden Hayes immediately raised his hand, indicating that he wouldn’t mess around.
But there was still a wicked smile at the corner of his mouth, making it look like he wasn’t very reliable.
Bella Acker pushed open the office door, walked in, and said, "Ms. Young, I’ve ordered hotpot, let’s eat together for lunch."
Cynthia Young looked up and, upon seeing Aiden Hayes behind Bella, raised her eyebrow slightly without showing any emotion, then turned her gaze away and said to Bella, "I’ve already arranged lunch with Director Simons at noon. He knows you’re back and insisted you should join us."
"Director Simons?" Bella was taken aback, not expecting Cynthia to have already scheduled a lunch with him.
"Yes. He’s planning to shoot an art film that’s aimed for awards rather than box office success, and he wants to know if you’re interested," Cynthia said. "You need to build your credentials right now, so this is an opportunity you can’t miss."
"Alright, I’ll go with you at noon."
The two discussed, and apart from occasionally glancing at Aiden, Cynthia handled it all professionally with Bella, as if he wasn’t even there.
However, ignoring him at this point was also a form of trust.
After all, they were discussing work, and if he wasn’t Bella’s friend, he wouldn’t have been able to stand there all this time.
Aiden looked at Cynthia, interested, and stroked his chin, a slight smile on his lips.
Great! She completely ignored his existence from beginning to end and quickly ruined his lunch plans with Bella; he remembered this woman.
Aiden chuckled, and seeing that the two had finished their business talk, he took a step forward, handed out his business card, and said, "Hello, my name is Aiden Hayes. Nice to meet you."
Cynthia took his card and, out of courtesy, picked one from the cardholder on the desk to hand over, neither warmly nor coldly, "Hello, my name is Cynthia Young."
"So you’re the famed agent Cynthia Young, I’ve heard so much about you," Aiden said in a familiarly friendly manner. "Even when I was abroad, I heard a lot about you and have a great admiration for you."
"Thank you." Cynthia showed no sign of pride from his praise, not even a surplus smile. She looked at the watch on her wrist, a silent cue for him to leave.
Bella, seeing Aiden hit a wall, stifled a laugh and said, "Ms. Young, you go ahead and get busy. Just let me know when we’re leaving."
"I’ll send the address to your phone. The meeting is at eleven-thirty, don’t be late." Knowing she had to entertain a friend, Cynthia didn’t intend to let her wait in the office any longer.
"Alright, I’ll be there on time," Bella replied. "Ms. Young, if I arrive first, I’ll wait for you at the entrance."
"Okay, if I get there first, I’ll wait for you outside." Cynthia nodded.
"Then I’ll be off now."
Bella tugged at Aiden’s sleeve, forcibly dragging him away.
Once they were out of the office, Aiden remarked, "Bella, are all women in China so cold-hearted?"
"Ms. Young is what’s called a strong, decisive woman," Bella said. "You can flirt with anyone, but Ms. Young is off-limits."
"Why?" Aiden asked, puzzled and a little curious.
Bella gave him a sympathetic look and said, "Because you’re doomed to fail, so why waste your outstanding acting skills? Plus, you might get seriously hurt."
"Bella, your words only fuel my determination to try," Aiden said with a devilish grin, "Just remember to congratulate me when the time comes. But don’t worry, Bella, you’re still my favorite."
