Chapter 664 - 663: The First Rule of Wife-Chasing (7)
Bella rolled her eyes at him and said, "Here’s an old saying from The Great Celestial Empire for you: ’Heaven can forgive the sins it creates, but self-inflicted sins are beyond redemption.’"
"What’s that supposed to mean?" Aiden asked, hearing such an old saying for the first time.
"You’ll find out soon enough." Bella shrugged, "I can’t take you out for lunch, but since you want to meet Talia, let’s schedule for tonight. There’s still an hour, how about I show you around Creston?"
"Sure, wherever Bella says to go, that’s where we’ll go." Aiden stretched out his long arm and wrapped it around Bella’s slender shoulders.
"Get your hand off..." Bella hadn’t finished her sentence when she stopped short.
Aiden followed her gaze and saw a man standing at the studio door, clearly about to come in.
This was a man with an incredibly strong presence, clearly not someone ordinary.
But Aiden wasn’t an ordinary person himself, so he wasn’t intimidated by Damian Sinclair’s aura. What intrigued him more was Bella’s reaction upon seeing Damian.
Oh, there’s something going on.
Aiden gave a wicked smile, deliberately tightened his arm, half-hugging Bella, and asked in a somewhat intimate tone, "Bella, is this gentleman a friend of yours?"
Bella was a bit stunned; she hadn’t expected to bump into Damian in such a situation, and it was truly difficult to explain.
However, maybe there was no need for explanation right now?
Damian looked at Aiden expressionlessly, and the temperature around him plummeted to freezing point.
Bella tugged at Aiden’s arm, but instead of letting go, Aiden held her even tighter, his lips curved into a wicked, somewhat provocative smile.
Damian’s chest was filled with a pent-up frustration. To him, Bella’s action seemed nothing short of guilty conscience.
In reality, why should she feel guilty? Since she returned from abroad, he was the one chasing relentlessly, while she consistently rejected him.
Perhaps she never intended to get back with him, only he was deluded enough to believe that spending more time with her would change her mind.
Maybe some things simply can’t be reconciled, or perhaps her earlier action wasn’t out of guilt, but rather... merely out of embarrassment from being seen cozying up with someone she likes...
The phrase "someone she likes" stabbed fiercely into Damian’s heart.
Bella pinched Aiden’s arm, and seeing she was truly upset, he mischievously withdrew his hand, then looked at Damian.
Bella calmed herself down and said, "Mr. Sinclair, are you here to see Ms. Flynn?"
"I’m here for you," Damian replied.
Bella’s heart skipped a beat, "Is there something you need, Mr. Sinclair? I’m still..."
Before she could finish, Damian interrupted, "I’ve come to return your hundred bucks." He indeed used this hundred bucks as an excuse to find her, having even reserved a table at a restaurant planning to have lunch together.
As he spoke, Damian took out his wallet, pulled out a hundred, and stepped forward handing it to Bella.
Bella’s smile stiffened almost imperceptibly before she took the hundred saying, "Mr. Sinclair, you’re too polite. You gave me a ride home the other night, the cab fare..."
"I don’t like owing people favors." Damian didn’t even glance at Aiden, instead looking only at Bella and asking, "Is he your boyfriend?"
Before Bella could answer, Aiden spoke up first, "Hello, Mr. Sinclair, thank you for taking care of our Bella these past few days." He said, extending his hand.
