Chapter 660 - 659: The First Rule of Chasing a Wife (Part 3)
The next day, Cynthia Young called Director Rowe and agreed to let Bella Acker play the lead female role in "I Will Not Be a Concubine."
Director Rowe was even quicker; he sent over the contract and script that afternoon.
Bella Acker sat in Cynthia Young’s office, flipping through the contract and script. She said, "Director Rowe is unusually straightforward this time."
"That old fox wouldn’t let himself lose out." Cynthia Young picked up a pen and signed her name at the bottom of the contract, saying, "He must have seen your value after returning to the country. When the production’s cast photos are released, he’ll certainly use you for massive publicity. Joining the crew is like a free advertisement for him. But for just that reason alone, Fox Rowe wouldn’t be so straightforward. Look at this. Your pay per episode is actually 800,000. Not to mention top first-line actors, this is at least the price for top second-line actresses. ’I Will Not Be a Concubine’ has a total of 48 episodes. Fox Rowe truly spared no expense."
"What? 800,000 per episode?" Bella Acker leaned over to glance at the price written in the contract. It really was 800,000, which seemed a bit too high for her.
"Right now, the pay of 800,000 per episode does seem a bit high, but when you really calculate it, Fox Rowe still profits more." Cynthia Young confidently said, "Because you will soon become a top-tier influencer."
Hearing this, Bella Acker smiled, feeling touched inside. "Ms. Young, do you have that much confidence in me?"
Cynthia Young gave her a nonchalant look, "What, do you think I kept you from taking any jobs for five years to give you a holiday? Natural talents need to be carefully polished to become real gems. I’ve worked so hard to shield you so you’d amaze everyone upon debut. If you can’t do that, then prepare to be sidelined."
"Ms. Young, you’ve been saying that for almost six years now." Bella Acker smiled lightly, not nervous like she used to be when hearing Cynthia Young say this. With a calm and confident demeanor, she said, "Don’t worry, I’ll do my very best."
"No! Here, we don’t settle for best; we strive for better." Cynthia Young turned the contract toward her, "Sign it, fame and fortune are waiting for you."
Bella Acker’s lips curled into a serene smile as she picked up a black pen and signed the name "Bella Acker" on the contract.
Once childish handwriting had now become graceful and smooth, pleasant to look at and comfortable.
"Knock, knock." The door to the office echoed with a knock.
Cynthia Young looked up, "Come in."
Judy Zimmerman walked in and said, "Hello, Ms. Young. Bella, outside, there’s a man claiming to be your fiancé looking for you. To prevent him from saying something inappropriate that might reach the ears of someone with ill intentions, I had no choice but to take him to the reception room first."
"Fiancé?" Cynthia Young frowned at Bella Acker.
Bella Acker was helpless. "He’s a friend I met while studying abroad, just likes to talk nonsense. I’ve warned him a few times, and he always says he remembers, but every time he finds me, he still says that."
Cynthia Young asked, "Is he pursuing you?"
"No way." Bella Acker chuckled, "He’s dating so many girlfriends at once that you can’t count them on two hands. Ms. Young, I’ll go see him first."
"Go ahead. Your situation is unique now, so avoid causing any scandals," Cynthia Young advised.
"I understand, you get on with your work." Bella Acker acknowledged, then walked out of Cynthia Young’s office with Judy Zimmerman.
Once outside the office, Judy Zimmerman immediately said, "Bella, is that the friend you met abroad? How come I’ve never seen him?"
"He hasn’t been to our house, so of course you haven’t met him." Bella Acker sighed, "He’s the only son of the globally renowned entertainment mogul, Cargill."
