Chapter 217: Just Make Up Formations On the Spot
I looked at the entire crowd of shambling Anomalies that were slowly moving closer towards me.
Then I looked to the left where Siti was standing, the woman currently standing on a field of grass that was sprouting out of the arid looking ground that should have been impossible to grow anything at all.
Not only was there grass sprouting out, even a small tree had grown and was standing behind her like some kind of wooden guardian.
Looking to my right, I saw Diana standing on a puddle of water that looked like it was boiling with the steam and bubbles on its surface, yet I could feel no heat coming from it.
Not only that, she also had a giant water avatar shaped like a lizard woman holding a trident that was taller than itself.
Both of them were looking at me.
Or... More precisely... They were looking at the four giant arms that I had materialised above myself, the size of the arms being bigger than even the torso of Diana’s water avatar.
I clenched and unclenched their fists a few times, testing my control over them.
And no... I’m not compensating for something here.
All three of us shared a look and some kind of understanding was passed between us.
We were going to see who can kill the most Anomalies out of the three of us here.
I’m not sure what the extent of their powers are but they definitely had more experience using them than I did so I will have to go all out if I want a chance to beat them.
There was no signal for us to start but all of us lurched forward at the same time, rushing towards the horde of Anomalies that were still shambling towards us this entire time.
I focused on my group of Anomalies as I leapt towards them, raising the two floating arms on my right and pulling them back while clenching their fists.
Electrical sparks appeared around them before I punched down with all my strength, creating an even bigger shockwave than what I did earlier.
I felt a splash of spray hit me from the side, no doubt something that was a result of Diana’s skill which prompted me to turn and look.
I found her pointing the spear tips of the trident of the avatar at the Anomalies, shooting jets of water from the tips to completely eviscerate the Anomalies in the water jets’ path.
She was blasting them to bits like she was holding some kind of pressure washer and just cleaning the grime off the wall with it.
I then felt a breeze coming from my other side and I turned to look at Siti, finding her rapidly transforming the land in front of her into fertile grassland and any Anomaly that was standing on it would start morphing themselves into a random plant on top of said grassland.
I decided I needed to up my game and jumped up into the air, flying off further towards the centre of the horde of Anomalies before dropping myself back down like a comet.
I had all four of my floating arms extended as fists in front of me as some kind of battering ram while falling back down to the ground.
I even went ahead to manipulate some of the earth to break off from the valley using the earth manipulation powers I got from that Anomaly I killed in that Bunarf rift to cover all of my floating arms so that I was now quite literally a meteor.
I crashed into the ground, shaking the ground with my impact and creating a large mushroom cloud that billowed into the air and blasted out a shockwave across the valley.
Electrical sparks exploded all around me and the mushroom cloud was electrified for a moment as the sparks scattered all around it to electrocute quite a number of them.
I stood in the centre of a giant crater, looking around as the dust cloud cleared to show an empty area around me that was previously filled to the brim with Anomalies.
But even with this, I only made a small dent in the number of Anomalies as there were still even more of them behind already filling the space of the Anomalies I had killed.
No time to rest now... Those two Mortal Goddesses were catching up to me and still cleansing the Anomalies as they charged forward without slowing down.
I say cleansing because that’s really what it looked like where one was a literal power washer ’washing’ away the Anomalies while the other was turning them into plants.
Meanwhile there’s me being a brute and just smashing them into pieces...
I wonder if I could do something as cool as them once I awakened?
Not that I’m saying what I can do now isn’t cool but I was hoping that I would get some esoteric abilities or something that does not involve me simply smashing the Anomalies to death in order to kill them.
I mean... I should be related to cultivation somehow, right? So something like using some Yin and Yang techniques to manipulate Qi or whatever, I dunno.
The closest thing I have to that is my reality manipulation thing which I can only use as a trump card or a last resort because of how much it would drain me to use it.
And that’s also apparently because it’s a skill I forcefully awakened ahead of time.
Hmm... Wait a minute... I just thought of something...
I can create these arms in any shape and design I want... Even the gauntlet’s shape and design is something that I came up with and shaped on my own...
Could I...
I leapt into the air again, letting myself float above the horde of Anomalies so that I was out of reach and that I had a good vantage point to let me see the entire valley below me.
I dematerialised the gauntlets, leaving the space around me empty.
Focusing my senses within myself, I tried to think of the image I needed to create what I wanted.
I grimaced slightly when I realised just how many I needed but I guess this would be another step forward for me.
I reached out my hand and summoned the first gauntlet in front of me.
Instead of just looking like an armoured hand, this had runes inscribed at the back to form a portion of a formation.
I then repositioned the gauntlet so that it was floating diagonally behind my left shoulder with the rune side face towards me.
The next gauntlet appeared, this one with another batch of runes inscribed on the back and moving to float above my right shoulder.
I summoned two more next, these I moved to my left and right, directly below the first two that were above my shoulders.
Two more appeared and these were positioned to jut out from my lower back before the final two were materialised to be moved above my head and under my feet.
Eight was already pushing the limits of my concentration and I felt a bead of sweat roll down my temple as I fought to maintain their existence or they would just slip away.
Maintaining my concentration over the gauntlets, I placed my palms together and activated the formation that I had formed using my floating arms.
The runes on the back of the gauntlets lit up and glowing lines formed between the gauntlets behind me to link all of them together before a formation was projected out in front of me.
I watched as the runes I had inscribed had appeared as ghostly forms of themselves inscribed on the formation and the entire circle tilted to face upwards to the sky.
There was a low rumble as the skies above thundered like a storm was brewing, despite the fact that there were no clouds overhead.
I could feel the gazes from the people below but I was not done yet as I concentrated on the formation and directed it to point at my intended target.
The circle that contained the formation suddenly lit up in a flash of light before a giant column of purple lightning came crashing through the circle, only to be expanded in size when it passed through the circle.
I watched in fascination as the Lightning Killing Formation I had just crafted did its job and enveloped almost half the valley with the column of lightning, completely disintegrating the Anomalies that had been engulfed in its electrified embrace.
The column of lightning continued raining down on the valley for at least a good three seconds before it slowly dissipated, leaving the charred remains of what used to be a dusty brown valley that had turned completely black after being scorched.
Not even a trace of any Anomaly remained.
The only ones that were still around were the small groups of Anomalies that were close to Siti and Diana, which I was afraid to target in case this lightning hit them.
Anyway... This means I win, right?
...
Why is everyone looking up at me like that?
