Chapter 1491: Out Of My Way
Ahhhhh... Keeping this up is actually more exhausting than I thought!!
Is there some book or something that I can refer to as a guide on how to be a villain?!!
Oh wait... My own books... Almost forgot that I already decided to use that...
Ughhh... But keeping up these appearances is so exhausting... How do people who are actually villains even keep this up naturally? Do they really live their lives like this?
I straightened myself and let Katsuki finish dressing me while my two roommates watched from the side, their faces blank after I told them what I intended to do during my time here.
It took them a good minute before Liovile and Maessa shared a look as if to confirm they heard what they heard and turned back to me.
"Umm... I’m not sure how to say this, Aster... But are you sure you want to do that?" Liovile asked.
I shrugged, "You already heard the rumours so... I might as well just embrace it at this point, you know?"
Maessa clasped her hands together, "I think it’s actually a great idea! You will be able to use your reputation to protect yourself too! This is really smart!"
I don’t know about being smart but... It’s just something that came to me...
Liovile made a face, "Well... I mean... If that’s what you want to do... I guess it’s good that you told us about this first or we might get the wrong idea. But I guess the next question is... How do you intend to be this... Well... Villain?"
"I thought about it and I would say... The most fitting for me is to act like those really arrogant nobles but with a little bit more class, you know?"
After seeing my girls, I figured the best option for me was to act like those mob bosses, which should fit me perfectly thanks to my background as a noble.
Maessa chuckled, "Fufu~ This would be pretty funny! I’ve seen arrogant and stuck up nobles before and to think you will be trying to pretend to be one~ I’m quite looking forward to it!"
Well... At least some people are finding this amusing I suppose...
With me fully dressed, I bid them all farewell for the day before leaping out of the window to descend to the ground floor.
I let out a soft sigh as I checked my schedule for the second day of school, seeing that my first class of the second day was Electromancy.
I headed for the teleportation array and stepped onto the platform to teleport myself to the same building where I had my Pyromancy lesson the other day.
As I stepped towards the building, I found more students who quickly stepped aside when they saw me approach, staying away from me like I was some kind of dangerous monster walking past them.
Still, there were other students who seemed mostly nonchalant about my presence so my notoriety has not yet spread to the entire school at this point.
I let myself sink into my persona and made sure to walk in the centre of the path, claiming the space for myself while I hugged my egg close to me.
A pair of students just so happened to also be walking along the same route as me and under normal circumstances, I would have given way to them but this time... I continued on my route and stopped right in front of them when they also did not give way.
They raised an eyebrow at me, clearly having the opinion that I should give way to them instead, especially since they were senior students while I was just a first year.
I tilted my head at them, "How curious. It seems like a couple of nobodies are in my way?"
The student on my left frowned, "What the heck? You’re a first year... Why are you acting like you own the place?"
The other student nodded, "Yeah, if anything, you should be giving way to us. We’re your seniors, you know?"
I was going to just tell them to move again when I heard someone step behind me and growl, "Sister Aster told you to move... So why aren’t you moving?"
Two hands then reached out and grabbed both seniors by their heads before shoving them aside, causing them to fall over onto the ground on their haunches.
Both of them just stared up in shock and didn’t make any other movements, either because they were too surprised by what happened or they had decided not to fight back against the person behind me.
I didn’t even need to look behind to know that Odeta was behind me.
Besides... I actually couldn’t look behind and act surprised because that would destroy my image here so I could only give her a subtle nod to show my thanks before I started walking forward once more, this time with Odeta accompanying me.
I assume that Odeta was also taking Electromancy classes and her assigned class happened to be the same as mine, which was why she was here right now.
The warmth of her presence was close behind me and I felt quite assured with her by my side.
She seemed to have decided to take up the role as my bodyguard here.
We reached the classrooms and stepped inside, the first year students that saw me instantly started murmuring amongst themselves with a number of them instantly averting their gaze so as to not meet my eyes.
Just like the Pyromancy class, the seats at the front were mostly empty so I went ahead to take a seat at the front with Odeta.
She settled into the seat beside me, looking quite proud of herself as she preened at the attention we were getting from the other students.
She turned to grin at me, "How was that, Sister Aster? Was that a good show?"
I nodded slightly, "Yes it was, Odeta. You really have talent."
"Wahahaha! Anything for Sister Aster!" She chuckled before leaning over close to me, dropping her voice to a whisper. "Besides... This is actually pretty fun~"
Right... I guess for someone like Odeta who values strength over all else, this is actually the perfect role for her to play.
In fact... I would say that this Academy’s values actually align with hers pretty closely now that I think about it.
More students entered the class and quite a number of them stiffened upon seeing me before they averted their gaze, opting to take the seats that were furthest away from me.
When the room was filled, another person stepped in, this one being our instructor given the azure coloured robes on their shoulders.
The instructor was a female Mahun with dark brown hair tied up in a ponytail. The interesting part about her was that she wore what looked like clothes made of fur underneath her and her abs were on full display.
I almost thought she was an Amrap for a moment with how she looked but she was indeed a Mahun.
She stepped up to the podium and turned to face us, her gaze sweeping over the class and, just like the other professors, paused at me for a moment before she started to speak.
"I won’t waste any time here. This is Intermediate Electromancy class and I assume all of you had a taste of what classes are like yesterday so if any of you have realised that you don’t have the talent to advance in this class, just leave right now instead of making a fool out of yourselves."
She straightened herself and crossed her arms, waiting to see if anyone would move.
No one in the class moved.
She nodded, "Very well then. Know that I will not slow down for any stragglers. You either understand and keep up, or you drop out."
All of us watched as the professor waved her hand, sending a wave of her mana flowing out that slammed the doors closed and lit up the magic circles around the room.
We hardly had any time to register that fact before the room around us suddenly shifted and we found ourselves no longer seated inside a lecture hall but in the middle of storm clouds instead.
There were a few gasps coming from the other students at the sudden change in location before the entire space rumbled with the sound of thunder.
Without warning, a lightning bolt struck the space between the professor and the students, filling the air with electrical sparks that struck all around the room.
Understandably, quite a few students flinched back but some managed to extend their magic and shield themselves from the electrical sparks.
Odeta and I were the same as we used our mana to redirect the sparks away from us, leaving us untouched.
The professor nodded, "Welcome to Electromancy class, students. I am professor Yurah, your teacher for this class. Do not disappoint me or you shall be struck down."
She then turned to start the lesson, standing amidst the storm clouds like they weren’t even there.
We’re... Really having a lesson in the middle of a storm?
