Chapter 314: She Can Be Your Girlfriend, I’ll Be Your Lover
"I’m not joking, Joy. I told you many years ago that I only see you as a friend. You shouldn’t be wasting your feelings on me."
Quentin Blackwood’s tone was incredibly cold as he said this. His eyes were dark and oppressive, completely devoid of light.
His coldness sent a wave of panic through Joy Sheridan. Quentin had always been cold, but Joy had always known she held a special place in his heart.
But now, she felt like she was truly about to lose him.
"I don’t believe you!" Joy shouted. "You know perfectly well that I love you! I’ve loved you for so many years! I’d do anything for you, give up anything for you."
As she spoke, she reached for Quentin’s arm. "Quentin, I’m begging you, don’t be so heartless. Please don’t treat me like this. We haven’t even been together, so how do you know you don’t like me? Can’t you just give me a chance? Let me stay by your side."
"What’s so great about that Ivy Sherwood anyway? Is she as beautiful as me? Is she as rich as me? Anything she can do, I can do too. I could even please you better than she can. Why don’t we just give it a try?"
At that moment, Joy was like a madwoman. She dropped straight to her knees. She was wearing a miniskirt, and her long, pale, slender legs knelt on the floor. Her eyes were filled with tears, making her look utterly pitiful.
Her hands reached for Quentin’s belt, but he took a step back, and she grabbed at empty air.
"Joy!" Quentin was genuinely angry now. "Look at yourself right now. How is this worthy of Elder Sheridan?"
Joy collapsed onto the floor, tears streaming down her face. "Why can’t it be me? I loved you first, Quentin! I don’t mind sharing you with Ivy Sherwood. She can be your girlfriend, and I’ll be your mistress. How about that?"
"You know it’s Ivy?" Quentin seized on the key part of her words, his voice growing even colder. "Who told you?"
Joy’s influence wasn’t strong enough to reach into Lustre without him knowing.
’If Joy wanted to plant someone in Lustre, she’d first have to have the ability to do so. For her to know this, someone must have told her.’
Joy shook her head. "No one told me."
Quentin’s eyes narrowed. He uttered a name. "Silas Blackwood?"
"You..." Joy stared at Quentin in terror, shocked that he had guessed it instantly.
’Sometimes, Quentin’s intelligence was truly terrifying.’
It wasn’t difficult for Quentin to guess it was Silas Blackwood. After all, very few people knew about his relationship with Ivy Sherwood, and only Silas would target him and try to cause him trouble.
But given Joy’s personality, if she knew about this, it was impossible for her to have done nothing.
’Joy would definitely have made a move. But so far, it seems she hasn’t taken any action.’
’Something’s not right.’
"Quentin, where exactly do I fall short compared to Ivy Sherwood?" Joy demanded through her tears.
There were two meters between Quentin and her. She remained kneeling on the floor, head tilted back to look up at the aloof, noble man.
’I don’t understand where I lost. I’m so beautiful!’
Quentin said coldly, "For starters, she wouldn’t throw away her dignity for a man like you’re doing. Elder Sheridan raised you like a little princess. He gave you a life of privilege so you could have a better life, not so you could end up like this."
"You should love yourself first. Never debase yourself, especially not by begging someone to love you."
Ivy Sherwood would never beg anyone to love her. Timothy Sherwood didn’t love her? It didn’t matter. She could grow up on her own and live an even better life.
When Silas Blackwood hadn’t loved her before, Ivy hadn’t cared. In fact, she didn’t even need that kind of love.
She would be independent, improve herself, and make herself shine to draw the gaze of others. That way, without having to do anything, she would naturally attract many people.
’Acting like Joy is... it’s just so cheap.’
Joy just sat on the floor, her eyes filled with resentment. "Quentin, you know my personality. Aren’t you afraid of what I might do to Ivy Sherwood?"
She dug her nails into her palms, wishing it were Ivy’s neck she was strangling.
"I will protect my woman. I turned a blind eye to the things you did before. But if you dare to do anything to Ivy, don’t blame me for being ruthless. If the Sheridan Family were to disappear, would you still be so confident?"
Quentin’s words were spoken calmly, but Joy shivered violently.
’Quentin is using the Sheridan Family to threaten me. He’s so ruthless.’
But she still loved this ruthless version of Quentin. Just seeing his face made her desperately want to possess him.
’I will not give up!’
Quentin glanced at her, but there was no recognition in his eyes, as if he were looking at a stranger.
"Get out, or I’ll call security."
Joy was unwilling to leave, but Quentin’s expression was final.
He had even already pressed the button on his phone, calling the security department.
However happy Joy had been when she came up, that was how pathetic she looked now.
She was Miss Sheridan; she couldn’t possibly let people throw her out. She also knew that once Quentin made a decision, it was nearly impossible to change his mind. If she didn’t leave, he would definitely have security toss her out.
Joy got to her feet and left on her own.
She went straight to the parking garage, not bothering with the ground floor.
She was completely crestfallen, feeling utterly drained of strength. ’I can’t believe it... how did it come to this?’
It felt as if she and Quentin had suddenly torn away all pretense. ’Everything was so good before.’
’How on earth did Ivy Sherwood do it? How did she manage to seduce Quentin away? Does she really have a lot of tricks in bed? I can do all that, too!’
’Quentin won’t even give me a chance. He has no idea how good I can be.’
’I have to find an opportunity to let Quentin taste the wonders of my body. I can be much more uninhibited than Ivy. Quentin can do whatever he wants with me.’
’Quentin’s heart isn’t in Aethelgard anymore. I feel like he could leave at any moment, so I have to possess him as quickly as possible.’
Joy left, but Quentin didn’t hang up the call he’d made to the security department.
"President Blackwood." The security guard was terrified. He knew this call was from the president’s office—from President Blackwood himself.
Normally, they had no contact with Quentin Blackwood whatsoever, but he was also the person they feared most.
He was already breaking out in a cold sweat, racking his brain to remember if he’d made any mistakes at work recently.
"From now on, if Joy Sheridan comes to the company, do not let her in. Report to Zane Linton beforehand."
"Yes, sir!" The security guard was petrified.
’Didn’t Miss Sheridan always have free access before? Why is she suddenly barred from entry?’
Though the guard was confused, he could only obey and report the news to his supervisor.
After hanging up with the security department, Quentin called Ivy Sherwood.
Ivy picked up quickly. Her playful voice came through the line, "So, has Mr. Blackwood handled his little romantic drama?"
