Yomigaeri no Maou

Episode 148: The Witch of the Woods

Bridge building went pretty well.

Even so, because the bridge you are trying to build was not so huge in itself, but a small one that you would say would connect a cliff a few meters away.

Moving into the back of the forest, there was a valley of considerable depth flowing beneath my eyes, and this time the bridge was built there to be handed over.

If you look at the other side of the cliff, you can see that there was definitely a path that people thought was trampled on, and that it was frequently used.

It's just that it's been a while since the bridge fell, or the grass is getting busy, and it's not being taken care of.

He said that there was only one way to get to and from the village, unless he went quite a long way, and that his grandmother, who had lived on the other side of the village since the bridge fell again, had never visited the village, and Lulu was anxious to see if he was still alive after fulfilling it.

I wondered if there could be a lonely, elderly woman in the back of the mountain who could survive, because I thought so.

But the men in the village laughed and answered such a Lulu question.

"I think that old lady would be alive for sure. That's Baba who's dead but not dead."

"Oh, you're right. When I was little, he used to teach me how to pick mountain vegetables. He said with the woods, you could live without anyone."

"I remember being taught how to twist birds and ravens... hey, Grandma, all I could see then was a witch..."

Everyone is saying that with a smudge.

A witch does not mean a wizard woman, but refers to the existence of superstitions that use special powers that cannot be mastered.

There used to be no such word, but in modern times it often appears in old stories, picture books, etc.

I mean, to sum up their stories, it turns out that so many monsters live there, but not as much as the words seem to fear the old lady.

Rather, I feel a lot of love.

I guess that's why we're trying to call the bridge back as soon as possible after a lot of hard work.

"I wish you were alive...... you were someone who was used to the woods"

He is like leaving the village and living alone in the woods.

It was a natural feeling in a way, but it's impressive that everyone is nodding at it.

To their reaction, which makes them feel respectful, awed and dear, Lulu would like to see his grandmother in question.

That's why Lulu said.

"So shall we bridge it soon... I can use floating magic, so I can easily cross to the other side. Can I help you?

It's a suggestion because I was hearing on the way here that some of us in the line were going to go a long way to the other side under the original plan.

Floating magic is not easy, but some magicians can be used in modern times.

It is also commonly known, so the villagers gave a joyous look, but it was not so surprising.

"You're a magician on one end at that young age. Thank God."

At best, but it is like that.

It's not floating magic that Lulu is actually trying to use, it's flying magic, but the villagers won't know the difference or anything.

After taking the ropes and materials to be stretched on the other side, and transporting several villagers, the work began.

"You've gone horribly far..."

"Oh, I'm not tired at all, and I've got twice as much power as usual..."

In front of the finished brand new bridge, the men of the village stared surprised.

In fact, the bridge could be rowed down to completion with incredible speed, and that was fast enough to surprise the men in the village who always do these carpentry jobs.

Even though we started relatively early in the morning, it's not even noon yet.

Apart from saying this was phenomenal, the men, who found no cause, were wondering as they looked at their hands and bodies.

The truth is because Lulu continued to strengthen his body against everyone he worked for, but he wouldn't have to say otherwise.

It's a problem if you're mistaken that you can do the same starting tomorrow, but as long as you're listening to the men's conversations, you don't have to worry about that because today's work is almost miraculous and you shouldn't think you can do the same thing again.

"So, do you want to go back?

That's what Lulu asks, but the village chief shakes his head at the words.

"No, I'll have to tell Solange that the bridge is complete. I don't care if everyone leaves... what do we do?

Solange, that seems to be the name of the old woman in question, and the village chief who looked back is going to visit her.

Lulu wanted to see her too, so she decided to get to the village chief, but around none of the village men who came this far would return as one, Solange seems to be liked.

About ten men, including Lulu, who wondered if visiting the old woman's house would surprise them considerably, but the men of the village spoken,

"She must be surprised."

"Has anyone ever seen Grandma Solange surprised?

"Hey. If that happens, isn't that what spears come down from the sky?

I don't even care because I say so.

The more I asked, the less I could imagine what Solange was like, but I was also looking forward to seeing him.

Walking along a less well-maintained path, Lulu proceeded with the men by magic to remove the weeds and stretched spreads appropriately to make it easier to walk.

"... if you did, you'd be here again in large numbers. Totally... what are you doing here?

The man, who was waiting with his arms in front of the small cabin, frowned, saying so most of all at the opening.

The aptitude, wrapped in a dark coloured robe on a torrid hat, does give rise to a witch-stained atmosphere.

But this is how I can tell in front of her, but apparently she was like an excellent magician.

I guess my job as a pharmacist is done by that magic technique.

It doesn't even seem like such a dull force in the back of the woods, but that's a personal circumstance.

I mumbled that it would be rude to go in and ask.

The village chief laughed at Solange's words like that,

"You haven't changed at all, Solange... well, there's no way people will change in a few weeks"

Solange snorted humbly at the words of the village chief,

"It's obvious. I've lived with this personality for decades. Something that's changed."

"Must be."

When he sees the mayor of the village with a smile on his face, Solange says with a change of expression.

"- So, you mean you guys made the bridge?

Even as she hated me, she seemed to have a good understanding of the situation.

The village chief nodded,

"Oh. I know you don't need it. The villagers will miss you... so will I."

When Lulu heard that, he did wonder if that was true, too.

Solange would undoubtedly be a magician, and there would be as many cliffs to cross as there were.

Floating magic will also be available, and if not, you can use earthly magic, plant magic, etc. to create impromptu bridges.

Strength, service life, etc. will be a problem once and for all, but if she just crosses it, she'll have no problem because it's just a story to make when she has magic.

But that makes it harder for the villagers to visit her freely, and that seems to be troubling.

After all, Solange seemed liked.

"I don't need anything else to eat... dammit. I'll thank you. When you do, it's time for noon. You'd be hungry, wouldn't you? Do you want to eat something?

When Solange said so with a smile on his face, which was the top of the Buddha, the men of the village who were there spoke out of joy and thanked him orally.

"Seriously! That's what I was looking for. About the village chief!

"Grandma's cooking is good..."

"If you don't have enough ingredients, go ahead! Because I'm gonna find you!

Like that.

That was as if it were an attitude towards a mother I had seen for a long time, and Lulu also came here to understand very well what Solange was like to the villagers.

"You're liked..."

Boosh, and when Lulu said that, Solange looked at Lulu,

"Oh...? You're a kid who doesn't look. Did you move in from somewhere?

and asked Lulu and the village chief.

The village chief

"No, he's an adventurer. On the way down the street, I'm staying overnight in an inn, picking out our village. If you don't mind, I asked you to help me build the bridge today, but you're happy to accept it. Would you let him taste your meal, too?

"Well...... that did something I'm sorry about. I'm sorry I let you build bridges for such an old man. I hope you don't mind, but do you want to eat?

Solange laughed at Lulu for saying so.

That was a very warm smile and I was sure he would be a good person.

I guess that's why they like it so much.

But that's why I was wondering why you live away from the villagers in this place.

I feel like there's nothing wrong with living in a village...

That said, it may be offensive to ask that.

She swallowed up the question that had sprung up that her, the village, would have village circumstances, and laughed at Solange and said:

"Please leave it with your companion"

Solange snorted at Lulu's words.

◆ ◇ ◆ ◇ ◆

I don't care what you think about saying everyone goes into Solange's little house, Solange said, so the meal was to be done with a cloth laid outside.

I felt like I didn't have the ingredients, but Solange's house pantry was like a magic room, and I was surprised to see one ingredient after another that just covered enough for everyone.

It is a meal of ten.

I thought cutting ingredients would be heavy labor, so I offered to help.

"You are guests. The guests are sitting quietly. - What, there's no problem. You know that, but I'm a magician. I can do a little physical strengthening."

That's what Solange said, cast a spell and activated the sorcery.

He had a very good composition of sorcery and definitely seemed to have an arm in this year that he could do enough as a sorcerer.

I wondered what it would be like to use it for cooking, but Lulu also uses physical enhancement to build bridges.

I thought it might be more peaceful to use this kind of usage than to use it for battle.

So, the meal that came out after a while was a luxury that I don't think Solange made alone.

"Come on, eat. You guys!"

and the moment Solange said it, it began to decrease with tremendous momentum.

because of the competing momentum and the men of the village's hands. So Lulu stared in dismay,

"... if we don't eat soon, we're gonna lose it, right?

and Solange told me to reach out in a hurry to secure my share.

Of the dishes, the chicken honey roast, the quiche of the mountain vegetables and bacon, the stewed soup of the organ, and the freshly removed vegetable salad were all very excellent.

"It's worth the help..."

It was so delicious, Lulu's voice leaks like that.

Solange seemed to have heard that,

"Really? I'd appreciate it if you were so happy."

and smiled happily.

Then, Solange started chatting with the village chief,

"How are the villagers?

"Oh... we're all good. Fortunately, no one was particularly ill..."

"Right. I'm relieved..."

I can tell that the look on Solange's face, who said so, was like a stick could be grabbed, and that he was really worried about the villagers.

Then, says the village chief.

"What about you like that? I've been worried because I haven't heard from you in a while...?

"Oh, I'm sorry about that. I've had a lot of problems and I've been busy. I just got back here..."

"Earlier? That's..."

"Don't ask me. This is hard to explain. It's not a problem anymore. Tomorrow I'm going to the village to see everyone..."

I didn't want to go to the village because I didn't want to, which doesn't seem to mean, but Solange didn't say why.

Then after dinner, everyone was to return to the village.

The village chief tells Solange.

"Well, I'll be back...... oh, tomorrow, you were coming. I'll tell everyone, they're coming."

That's what I said and waved.

Villagers following it.

And Lulu tried to do the same.

"Oh, you, you said lulu. Just you, give me a minute. I have business to attend to. Marco! Hey, I'm gonna borrow this guy!

Shouting so to the village chief, who was a little further away with a loud crouching voice, the village chief looked back and indicated his intention to understand.

As for Lulu, I don't mind a little bit.

He nodded and went into the cabin where Solange invited him.
